Remembering Dr Christopher Wakeling OBE

The University is saddened to announce the passing of Dr Christopher Wakeling OBE.
Known as both a member of our College of Fellows and a lecturer in Art and Architectural History in the Department of Adult Education for many years, Christopher will also be remembered in Stoke for his role in the saving of Bethesda Chapel in Hanley. Nationally, he was a trusted voice on the historic environment.
Colleagues remember Christopher as an inspiring teacher, colleague and an author of works on Nonconformist architecture since the Reformation. His revised edition of Pevsner’s Buildings of England volume on Staffordshire is currently at the proof stage.
We offer our condolences to Christopher's wife, Marianne.
The funeral will be held on Friday 27th October, 11.30am, at The Old Chapel, Etruria, Stoke-on-Trent.
